The Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Environment and Resources is a small, highly competitive program for both the PhD and the MS in Environment and Resources degrees. While applicants come from a variety of academic and professional backgrounds, the strongest candidates demonstrate course work, research, or experience in multiple disciplines, including physical, biological, and social sciences. Individuals must be able to demonstrate why an interdisciplinary graduate degree is more appropriate than one in a single discipline.

The IPER community believes that diverse viewpoints and experiences are essential elements of a rich intellectual environment. International students, members of under-served minority groups, and individuals with non-traditional academic training are encouraged to apply.  Applicants from outside the U.S. will find useful information on the Bechtel International Center website.

To begin the application process, students are encouraged to investigate IPER's Affiliated Faculty to ensure that the applicant's research interests align with Stanford's faculty resources.
